Paul Parsons Headshot

I am an associate professor in the department of Computer Graphics Technology within the Purdue Polytechnic Institute. My research is in the interdisciplinary field of human-computer interaction, with a focus on the design of interactive visualization interfaces and their use in complex sociotechnical settings. My work at the intersection of design practice and data visualization has been recognized with an NSF CAREER award. I advise several students in the Design, Visualization, & Cognition (DVC) Lab, where we investigate topics at the intersection of design practice, design cognition, visualization, human-centered design, and complex cognitive systems. I collaborate with several people at Purdue and elsewhere, especially in my roles with the NSF-funded Cyberinfrastructure Center of Excellence SGX3, and the NASA-funded Resilient Extra Terrestrial Habitats Institute (RETHi). I am also a member of the Purdue Cyberlearning Consortium.
